The 2011 MCAS Miramar Air Show: September 30th thru October 2nd

Many from the surrounding communities, including those from our very own Carmel Valley San Diego community, came out to pay tribute to the men and women that serve our country. The theme for this years air show was “A Salute to San Diego: Birthplace of Naval Aviation 1911-2011,” in honor of the centennial of both Naval and Marine Aviation.

This year’s air show allowed all of us in the Carmel Valley San Diego community, to also salute 100 years of Marine Aviation – a year-long celebration which spans May 2011 to May 2012 with several events across the country.

Carmel Valley Homeowners are less than 15 minutes to the Air Show.  The show was open daily from 9 am to 4 pm.  On Saturday there was a wonderful twilight show from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.

Throughout the weekend there were over seven hours of performances by the world’s best military and civilian pilots, including The Blue Angels – The world famous US Navy Jet Demonstration Squadron.

In addition, there were over 100 military and civilian display aircraft to explore, simulation rides and an Air Show Expo showcasing several local businesses and free kid’s activities.
