I recently returned from a trip to the beautiful country of Costa Rica. One of the things I found most breathtaking about the places I visited was the beauty and tranquility of the beaches; the beach at Manuel Antonio is pictured with this article. I realize it may sound strange to be taken by beaches elsewhere when we have some of the most gorgeous beaches here in San Diego, and especially having had our very own Coronado Beach voted America’s Best Beach for 2012.
So what did I find so different about the beaches in Costa Rica? Part of it of course was the excitement of travelling to a new place, but it was the cleanliness and lack of crowds that really struck me. Our San Diego beaches are typically clean, however with the crowds that frequent our beaches inevitably some litter is bound to be found. My trip has inspired me to participate in an upcoming beach clean-up on September 15,2012 for California Coastal Cleanup Day.
I’m excited to do my part to keep our beaches beautiful and clean, and encourage others who appreciate our beaches to do the same. We are fortunate to have some wonderful local organizations such as I Love A Clean San Diego and the Surfrider Foundation San Diego Chapter that can assist with these efforts. I hope visitors at our beaches are able to get the same experience I did when travelling! Pura vida!
