“Help Us Grow” or “HUG” will be the goal when animal lovers, community leaders, and friends of your Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) gather for the Celebration of Second Chances. The 2014 Celebration will take place on Saturday, September 20th from 4:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
“We’ll ask our guests to Help Us Grow,” says Jim Silveira, President of RCHS. “During the past 54 years, the RCHS Adoption program has matched thousands of pets with their forever families. Our Humane Education and community outreach programs are impacting the lives of people and animals throughout San Diego County and beyond. Our Animal Safehouse program provides a safety net for the pets of domestic violence victims and others in crisis. These are some of the programs that you’re supporting when you buy your tickets to the Celebration of Second Chances.
Silveira points out that the animal shelter was far off the beaten path when it opened in 1960. “There was no Interstate 5. Highway 101 was the main route. Fifty four years ago it was a long trek from Moonlight Beach over the hill to RCHS. The pastures, farm animals, and wildlife have been replaced by homes, schools, churches, and businesses. We’ve worked hard to meet the needs of the community that’s grown around us. Now we’re asking you to Help Us Grow.”
You can’t put a price on the wagging tail of a happy puppy or the gentle purr of a contented cat. But you can put a price on seating. Tickets for the Celebration cost $175. VIP level will be $275. VIP includes a cocktail reception and heavy hors d’oeuvres with RCHS President Jim Silveira.
In addition to supporting the programs and services that RCHS provides for people and animals, guests will be treated to a buffet dinner, music, entertainment, and raffle and auction items.
Silveira says, “We’re accepting sponsors, prizes for the raffle, and also a limited number of auction items. If you run a pet-friendly business, sponsoring the Celebration is a great way to reach customers who share your love of animals.”
