Exercising in Nature: The Guy Fleming Trail

Torrey Pines Beach and State Reserve is home to some of the most beautiful and scenic hiking trails in all of Southern California.  Perched right along the beautiful Torrey Pines Beach, hikers can choose a variety of different routes, depending on desired length and degree of difficulty.  One of the least rigorous routes, but a very popular one, is the Guy Fleming Trail.  This route is approximately two-thirds of a mile and does not contain any radical increases in incline.  It is the ideal trail for those individuals looking to get in some exercise while enjoying the gorgeous views of the coast.  Please continue reading below…

The Guy Fleming Trail is definitely a popular route for Carmel Valley residents.  Not only is it close to home and inexpensive (it’s free), but it also provides sweeping views of the ocean and clean fresh air to breathe in while enjoying nature.  Because of the amazing views and surrounding nature, the hike almost doesn’t even feel as if it is exercise.  It is a great place to go with friends or family to catch up with each other, but can also be relaxing and serene when alone.  A lot of college students come with friends to take a break from school and distress from finals.  After all, how can you be stressed out while listening to the soothing sounds of waves and getting those endorphins pumping!  It’s simple, you can’t!!!

The trails are truly a very special place, as they provide just the right amount of exercise and natural beauty.  If you haven’t already, come try the Guy Fleming Trail and become one of the many San Diego residents to fall in love with the hike.  Be sure to come throughout the year and watch the magnificent progressions taking place during each change in the seasons.  For more information, visit www.torreypine.org.
