FasTracKids of Carmel Valley/Del Mar Read to Break Record

FasTracKids creates awareness, excitement for early literacy

FasTracKids of Carmel Valley/Del Mar, a leader in fun, interactive early childhood education, will be participating in Jumpstart’s 2013 Read for the Record event on October 3rd.  The event will be held to promote early literacy for every child.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Kristin Rude | Otis Book ImageThe Read for the Record campaign involves millions of children and adults who strive to break the world record for the most children reading the same book on the same day.  Otis by author Loren Long will be this year’s choice to help children become active readers.  By pledging to read, FasTracKids is helping create awareness for the importance of early childhood literacy in the community.

“Children are born learning, but not all children have the same advantages for early education or enrichment,” explains Nancy Faunce, President and CEO of FasTracKids International.  “At FasTracKids, we’re building on the natural curiosity of the youngest learners.  By hosting Jumpstart’s Read for the Record, we can help raise public awareness about the early education gap that exists between income levels, and share our goals for enriching children with the knowledge to become creative thinkers, skilled leaders and resourceful problem solvers.”

Originally a national campaign, FasTracKids partnered with Jumpstart to allow the Read for the Record campaign to reach thousands of additional children and adults internationally. FasTracKids and Jumpstart’s partnership will help create the largest “shared reading experience” ever and challenge the record set in October 2012, when over 2.3 million children and parents heard the story Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad by authors David Soman and Jacky Davis.
