Carmel Valley’s Taste of Italy

Can someone really get a taste of Italy from the comfort of one of the Carmel Valley San Diego community neighborhood restaurants? I went to visit Carlos Arroyo to find out. Carlos is the restaurant manager at “Taste of Italy,” and has worked his way to the position over several years of busing and waiting tables. The day I went to visit “Taste of Italy,” Carlos and his team had a celebrity event at Morgan Run Resort in Del Mar, CA. Generally, I try to capture my stories on camera but due to his time constraint we couldn’t. We did have an opportunity to chat for a few minutes about the restaurant and the community. He believes that the restaurant fits in perfectly in the Carmel Valley San Diego community because of its warm, family oriented and friendly atmosphere. That seems like a winning combination right? Though that specific atmosphere is the desire for any classy family restaurants, Carlos says that what helps create and keep that environment, is the people in the community.

Carlos went on to say that, “the people that live in Carmel Valley San Diego, love their community.” Additionally, he said that, “they take pride in representing the community wherever they go.” Every night at his restaurant, he sees just how close knit the Carmel Valley San Diego community really is. Carlos smilingly tells me that every night, families consistently and casually approach other tables and stir up conversations with new and old friends. Once again, there is strong evidence to support the theory that the people of any city or neighborhood, have an undeniable influence over the community and its character.

“Taste of Italy,” is actually part of a larger family of restaurants serving San Diego County. The location in the Carmel Valley San Diego community opened in 2006 and happens to be the largest of its kind, with an outdoor patio and indoor dinning area.
