Piazza Christmas Celebration 2013

On December 7th there was a community Holiday event at the Piazza Carmel – the Piazza Christmas Celebration.  This event started at noon and went until 3pm.  Located in the heart of Carmel Valley, Piazza Carmel Shopping Center offers shopping, dining, services and more all in your neighborhood!  Conveniently positioned on the corner of Valley Centre Drive and Carmel Creek Road, Piazza Carmel is known for its exquisite architecture and serene ambiance.

This event was kicked off by a grand arrival of Santa via horse drawn carriage.  Then a great performance by The Wonderelles, a wholesome, high-energy, elegant 50s and 60s revue.  Watching this 50’s & 60’s Girl Group perform in either poodle skirts or rolled-up jeans outfits, or blue or red 50’s style cocktail dresses is amazing.  There were children having snowball fights and building snowmen in the real snow pit. There was pictures with Santa available and a Christmas tree auction!  Euro bungee came and installed a great trampoline flying experience for kids of all ages.  Kids were riding ponies and petting llamas in the petting zoo.  All the tenants of the Piazza Carmel were set up with booths giving out free food or great deals.  This event was an overall success which brought the Carmel Valley community together to have lots of fun.

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Santiago Benito | Junior Creative DirectorName: Santiago Benito

School: Canyon Crest Academy

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer.  He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.

Interests:  He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel.  Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember.  From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen.  While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow.  Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends.  In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself.  For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).

Journey: He was born in San Diego on August 14, 1998 and has had a wonderful life growing up in the Carmel Valley area.
