“Help Us Grow” will be the theme when your Rancho Coastal Humane Society hosts its annual Celebration of Second Chances on Saturday, September 20 from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe. RCHS officials explain that this growth is long overdue.
“Since Rancho Coastal Humane Society was founded in 1960, we’ve gone from a fairly rural area to a bustling animal shelter in a busy community,” says President Jim Silveira. “The little house that was on the property in 1960 still serves as our Pet Adoption and administration building. The barn where ‘Milton Burro’ lived is now our Humane Education center. The community has grown faster than the shelter. Now Rancho Coastal Humane Society is asking our supporters to Help Us Grow.”
Silveira explains, “In addition to our two original programs…Pet Adoption and Humane Education…today Rancho Coastal Humane Society also operates the Animal Safehouse Program for animal victims of domestic violence and families in crisis. Our Pet Assisted Therapy program delivers unconditional love to people in-need when they need it most. Our Community Pet Food Bank means that no pet owner is forced to choose whether they eat or their pet eats. These programs are supported by the Celebration of Second Chances.”
Nick Winfrey, RCHS Vice President of Planning and Development, says “Grow is a verb. It means that something is making progress in maturity or becoming larger over a period of time. The community around us has become larger and now it’s time for RCHS to catch up with this 54 years of progress.”
V.I.P tickets at $275 include a cocktail reception and heavy hors d’oeuvres with RCHS President Jim Silveira and live music by critically acclaimed Jazz Guitarist Peter Sprague starting at 4:30 PM. Pianist Jim Sayour will welcome guests at the $175 level at 5:30 PM. All guests will be treated to dinner, entertainment, and raffle and auction items.”
Winfrey says, “Thanks to Presenting sponsors Ark Antiques and the Del Mar Country Club, Platinum sponsors ViaSat, Coomber Winery, The Encinitas Advocate, Sylvia and Roger Thieme, Maria Cohen, and Chris and Diane Calkins, Gold sponsors BMW of Encinitas, The Fish Market, PETCO Foundation, and the Ross Family Foundation, and Silver Sponsors Drake Center for Veterinary Care, Shea Homes, Kamp Kanine, and SERVPRO of Fairbanks Ranch and East Rancho Santa Fe.”
