Torrey Hills Center Invites You to the “Taste of Torrey”

The ‘Taste of Torrey – Gila Runway’  Event on Wednesday, September 12 at the Torrey Hills Shopping Center is a community-minded collaboration of the Torrey Hills Shopping Center, The  Carmel Valley Life and the Gila Rut Aveda Salon   –  all for a great cause called ‘The Parent Connection’, San Diego’s largest parent support group.

It all takes place center courtyard from 5pm – 9pm, where area families, friends and the general public are invited to a fun, first-of-its-kind ‘no-charge evening experience’.  Sampling fabulous food from the Center’s participating restaurants is definitely on the menu – like BBQ Republic, Daphne’s, Edible Arrangements and Taste of Italy.

Fantastic ‘Silent Auction’ items will be displayed to help raise funds for The Parent Connection while strolling around to the musical sounds of a live DJ.  Between 7pm – 7:30pm, the red carpet heats up as the national award-winning Gila Rut Aveda Salon previews their new Fall/Resort collection of head-turning cuts, color and make-up – with clothes and accessories from Jacques Lelong.

These current hair and make-up trends will reflect exactly what the Gila Rut design team is showing simultaneously during New York Fashion Week. Hair features intricate braids mixed with multi textures – while Aveda’s new Neo Goth Make-Up Collection inspires the glamorous edgy looks of ‘Passion Flower’ smoky-shadowed eyes and darker, more vibrant lips for the coming months.

Heading up the ‘Gila Runway’ design honors are stylists Britta Schramm, Siobhan Duffy-Smith and  Elida Dozal, colorists Laura Cross and  Christine Gamalinda, plus make-up artists Michael P. Hart and Brittney MacGregor. The salon is open throughout ‘Taste of Torrey’ for complimentary mini-consultations on all Gila Rut services.

Local merchants anticipate that ‘Taste of Torrey – Gila Runway’ will be a great hit and continue to bring the community together, while helping small businesses continue to grow.  The event is expected to kick-start by partnering with different businesses throughout Carmel Valley to host a giveaway each day leading up to the big event.
