5 years ago this October 3, a few of my friends – including one long-time Carmel Valley resident Kim Martini and a 1990 Torrey Pines HS graduate, Betty Bidwell Wageman – began competing in the San Diego Triathlon Challenge and raising money in support of the Challenged Athletes Foundation. CAF’s Mission is to provide adaptive sports equipment and support to individuals with physical disabilities so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. They competed under the team name “Sammy’s Super Friends” in honor of Betty’s daughter Sammy who was born missing her lower arm. In their 1st year they raised $1500 and were excited to share their passion for the cause with friends and grow the team. Each year since the team has continued to grow and as they enter their 5th season competing together, they have grown to 80 Super Friends and have raised $150,000 over all!William Traenkle, the founder of Tranquilnet, was practically born to be a leader in the IT solutions field. William has been building and solving problems ever since he was a kid, and has dedicated his life to being on the cutting edge of technology and helping others take advantage of all modern technology can provide.
