I love Spring in San Diego. Well, I really love every season in San Diego; but to me Spring seems to bring fresh opportunities and a sense of happiness everywhere you go as summer excitement begins. This month I would like to share with you some of the new activities I have been up to, and remind you to explore your North County San Diego communities, there is so much to discover and to do!
Paint Nite
Try out a local restaurant while learning to paint. No artistic talent required. Seriously, I have minimal talent and walked out of Fresco with a decent looking painting, pictured with this article. There are many North County restaurants that participate in this activity, where you are able to sit down with a friend or a date, and spend a fun few hours together over food and wine while following step by step instruction on how to paint the picture of the night. Paint Nite San Diego puts together these events; I will definitely be doing it again!
Batiquitos Lagoon Trail
This is currently my go-to place for walking my dog. The trail is a beautiful three miles along the Batiquitos Lagoon in Carlsbad, passing by the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort and giving a sneak peek at its beautiful Aviara Golf Club. I notice a lot of educational events being conducted there, as there is a unique lagoon habitat and abundant bird watching. It appeals to me because it is peaceful and scenic. It is a change of pace from the usual busy dog parks and dog beaches I take Tyson to, albeit I still frequent and love those spots as well. I suggest going for a walk or run on this trail if you love nature or are seeking a less-crowded trail to explore.
Get Beach Ready at Fitwall
I’ve never been one for intense fitness classes. I like to be active outdoors, hike, and do my own routine at my local gym. However, a friend encouraged me to try Fitwall in Solana Beach with her, and I’m hooked. I’ll let their website give you the accurate description of this high intensity interval workout, and I’ll give you mine. Picture an open room with plenty of space for your workout, iPad’s at each workout station (or “wall”) to track your heart rate and display the time left on your interval, and your individual “wall” to work out on (envision a really high tech looking ladder). Friendly and inspiring coaches will lead you, help you master your form, and they even bring you clean towels. It is anything but pretentious; rather it is an extremely encouraging environment. Best of all? The time flies by! No matter what your fitness level or fitness goals, I highly suggest trying out this new workout!
