Headaches – Addressing the Root Cause

There are many types and causes of headaches.  Regardless of the cause, if you have a headache, you want it to end.  Fast!  This has produced a large market for medications that cover up the symptoms of headaches without addressing the root cause.  These powerful drugs numb the nervous system so the pain doesn’t register.  While this approach appears to be convenient, they can cause side effects including kidney and liver damage. All without correcting the source.

A major cause of headaches is from spinal bones in the neck that are not supporting the head properly.  They are not moving freely.  This can affect nerves, muscles and even the blood supply to the head.  Chiropractors look for areas of the spine that aren’t moving properly and use chiropractic adjustments to help normalize function.  This helps to restore essential spinal curves, improve circulation and reduce nerve irritation.  While we can’t guarantee results, many patients report fewer and less severe headaches.
