Getting Summer Wedding (or Beach Body) Ready Tips

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Amy Mewborn | Bride and BridesmaidHere we go – May means one thing (actually a few things), but one in particular – wedding season is upon us!

If you are nearing your big day, here’s three tips for looking your best for all those photos!  (Here’s one of me with my GORGEOUS sister in law, Miriam, on her wedding day.)

1.  Improve your posture!  When you carry your body tall, with your shoulders back and your abdomen in, you look longer, leaner, and more self confident – which makes for better pictures and a look that you’ll be proud of for years to come.  Pilates and barre are both great for improving your posture.  At Fit in 60 Pilates and Barre, we are constantly reminding you to pull your navel into your spine.  We’re reminding you to pull your shoulders down your back and show off your proud chest.  By working these muscles – your entire core – you will automatically carry yourself taller and thinner!

2.  Stop eating JUNK!  I know this is a toughie!  But give it JUST two to three weeks without refined carbohydrates and sugar.  Try to eat as much protein, fruits, and vegetables as you can – avoiding those foods that drain your energy, and cause your body to hold excess weight.

3.  Banish the bloat!  Those last two weeks before the wedding, really try to reduce your salt, sugar, and soda intake.  Trade it out for green tea and/or lemon water.  Each of these will help your body process more quickly and help keep you better hydrated.  I know it is tempting to eliminate beverages, but know that when you are dehydrated, your body actually HANGS on to water weight more than it does when it is properly hydrated!

Finally – our last tip for looking your best in your wedding photos – Feel Great About Yourself!  Most men will tell you that one of the sexiest things about a woman is self confidence!  Your wedding day will FLY by!  Have some fun!  Focus on remembering as much about the day as you can!  Just know that your future spouse CHOSE you!  He thinks you’re beautiful!  Own it and have a fabulous wedding day!

Carmel Valley San Diego Community | Amy MewbornOriginally from the Midwest, Amy moved to San Diego in 2001. A graduate of Valparaiso University, Amy had been a Financial Advisor since 1997. When Amy began taking Pilates with her neighbor Wendy, in 2006, she fell in love with the method and benefits of the program and knew she wanted to help others achieve their fitness goals. It was not until Amy took her first barre class that she discovered her true passion for fitness. She loved the challenge and energy of each class. And more importantly, she was excited by the results as her body became more toned than through any other workout routine she had tried in the past. Amy would be one of the best testimonials for Fit in 60 Pilates and Barre. In less than a month’s time, attending 4-5 classes a week, Amy went from a size 10/12 to a size 6. She came home one day and told her husband, Mike that “if every girl knew this, every girl would do it.” Amy is passionate about getting to know her clients and provide modifications and corrections to challenge every client, while making classes as safe as possible. Amy lives in Carlsbad with her husband, Mike, and her dog Emma. She loves what she does, and is thrilled to present the Fit in 60 workout to Carlsbad and Carmel Valley and is eager to help women look and feel great!
