Village Mill Bread Company has been bringing the community of Carmel Valley San Diego, delicious and fresh baked bread for a wonderful 17 years. Located in Del Mar Heights Shopping Center between Jimbos…Naturally! and Barnes & Noble, sits this little bakery that stops at nothing to bring its customers a variety and the very best of baked goods.
The San Diego based company was opened in September of 1995 to owners Sandra and Parker Pike. The rise of their success didn’t come easy, there was definitely challenging times. Struggles with employees, customers, and recipes were at times set backs, but Sandra never stopped plunging forward and making her dream a reality. “My husband Parker,” Sandra says, “Has helped me in a lot of ways. He truly is the energy behind what we do.”
Village Mill Bread Company has come a long way since they first opened their doors. Many changes and additions have been made to keep up with times and, most importantly, keep up with customers. The once 8 available types of bread, 2 available types of cookies, and 6 available types of muffins, has turned into numerous available types of each. But it doesn’t stop there; pies, quick breads, cupcakes, and scones have been added to the menu as well. Espressos made from locally ground coffee beans are also available and becoming quite popular among customers. Holidays call for additional baked goods and of course, decorations to compliment them. Bulk orders and reservations are common and welcomed too.
Life is busy and friendly at the bakery. From the moment you walk through the door your instantly greeted with a friendly hello and the smell of fresh baked bread straight out of the oven. It’s the perfect place to stop by on the way to work for one, or for the whole office. It’s also a perfect place to buy the loaf of bread that will be used for the kids’ sandwiches throughout the week. It’s the perfect place for all your baked good needs, and its conveniently easy, close and welcoming.
