On May 4th the Ashley Falls Elementary School PTA organized their Spring Carnival, this annual event is a fundraiser for the school. The atmosphere was alive with a carnival feel to it, there were game booths, jump castles, a silent auction, an obstacle course, a rock climbing wall, a game truck, photo booth, rc trucks, laser tag, etc. The food was great and there was also a raffle giving away two iPad minis. The silent auction provided a ton of great opportunities and deals, and every year there are more and more. This event had many sponsors, which were all local businesses that care about the education and future of the kids of Carmel Valley. This school is part of the Del Mar Union School District, which is comprised of a great staff that only has the needs of Carmel Valley’s kids in mind, and it shows at our schools. The carnival was located in the schools main recess area, which was the perfect location, and it was a very safe environment where parents could feel at ease letting their kids enjoy all the activities. The Ashley Falls neighborhood is a very peaceful and quality neighborhood with a wonderful school. Our Carmel Valley community is great at coming together and creating fun, family oriented events and this carnival is a prime example of that community spirit. Even if your kids don’t attend the school you should still come to the carnival as a visitor to have an opportunity to meet other parents of the community and any kid would have a blast at this event. The Ashley Falls PTA is a great group of parents that went to great lengths to make this carnival the best and most exciting carnival it could be, and every year it gets better.

Dream: Santiago hopes to one day become a documentary film director and producer. He also hopes to write and make Hollywood films.
Interests: He enjoys reading almost as much as he enjoys writing; my favorite book is The Life of Pi by Yann Martel. Santiago have had an interest in the art of cinema ever since he could remember. From an early age, Santiago has been mesmerized by the beauty of the lines said and the actors on the big screen. While many kids have a hard time trying to figure out what they want to do after they get out of school, Santiago knew right off the bat that he wanted to be involved in the world of cinema somehow. Aside from that, he enjoys playing basketball and spending time with family and friends. In addition, Santiago is very interested in being involved in things much larger than himself. For example, he is a part of many non-profit organizations whose goals are to help people and communities all over the world (i.e. Japan, Africa, and the Untied States).
