San Diego natives Shane Stanger and Rob Robbins opened their first Baked Bear in 2013 on Mission Boulevard with locations now in La Costa, Petco Park and now in Carmel Valley and they are not slowing down with another location opening in August.
“It’s all about bringing homemade recipes and affordable treats to local neighborhoods”, says Robbins.
The Baked Bear’s menu includes just about every ice cream sandwich imaginable; made-to-order combinations of baked in-house cookies, brownies and donuts with craft ice cream, hot fudge sundaes and their specialty – the Bear Bowl – a warm chocolate chip cookie pie with a scoop on top.
My personal creation was their gluten free chocolate chip cookie filled with peanut butter fudge ice cream and topped with whipped cream. Oh my, what a yummy treat!! Next time I’m down for the brownie with mint chip ice cream – a best seller for good reason.
Just in time for summer, visit this artisan modernized old fashioned ice cream parlor for a real custom treat for everyone and stay cool!
Opened June 26, 2015 @13480 Highlands Place San Diego CA 92130
