Most of us over age of 40 have had the experience of a dental crown. The shots, drills, impressions, temporary for 2 weeks and an inconvenient second visit. The experience, although necessary, lacks the efficiency that most of us demand in this fast paced world we live in.
No one can put it better than David Letterman did is this hilarious video from years past (click HERE to watch).
With today’s CEREC technology, Dr James Tasto at Torrey Hills Dentistry can fabricate a beautiful all ceramic crown in one visit. What is CEREC? CEREC is (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) a dental restoration product that allows me to produce an indirect all ceramic restoration using CAD/CAM technology for increased accuracy.
With the computer, imager, miller and glazing oven all located in my office, I can make a beautiful all ceramic crown or onlay in one visit. No impressions, temporary, or second appointment. The accuracy is higher for the simple reason that distortion occurs in every impression and mold created. Everything that goes from a liquid to a solid distorts. With the CAD/CAM technology, I use a digital camera to take images of the crown prep and have the ability to design the crown myself. Who would you want making your crown? Your dentist or some lab person so have never met and have no idea their skill levels.
Customization of the crown can be accomplished on site. So if you are having an anterior crown fabricated, the shade can be changed immediately at the office therefore avoiding the dreaded “send it back to the lab” third appointment. We are all too busy to chose the antiquated techniques of the past in today’s computer world.
If you have any questions about CEREC crowns or general dentistry, please feel free to schedule a complimentary exam at Torrey Hills Dental. 858-449-1776. Please visit us at our website.
