Everyone Likes a Bright & White Smile

Everyone likes to have a bright and white smile, which makes teeth whitening a very popular and often requested treatment.  Torrey Hills Dental uses two different techniques to help achieve a whiter and brighter smile.  The first type of teeth whitening is a popular treatment called Zoom Whitening.  This in-office treatment takes about 45 minutes and begins with the lips and gums being covered, leaving only the teeth exposed.  A whitening gel is then placed onto the teeth, and the patient can sit comfortably in their chair with the Zoom Light focused on their teeth. The light will work in conjunction with the gel to help break up any stains or discoloration.  This process is repeated 3 times for fifteen minutes, with the end result being a much brighter and whiter smile.

The second technique offered is a take home whitening gel.  The patient will have custom trays created for them to take home and will wear these trays anywhere from 15 minutes to 45 minutes a day.  They can be work in the comfort of one’s own home, and are great for those with sensitive gums, as they allow for the solution to be kept solely on the surface of the tooth.

At Torrey Hills Dental, we like to combine the two techniques to really help the patient achieve the whitest and brightest smile.  We like to have a patient undergo the Zoom Treatment, and then take home our custom trays to use either for deeper whitening or to simply maintain their bright smile over the years.  Regardless of which option you prefer, you will be left with a glowing smile that will be sure to make you appear more youthful!

Born and raised in San Diego, Dr. James Tasto attended University of San Diego High School where he lettered in both golf and wrestling. After earning a Bachelors in Science from Loyola Marymount University, Dr. Tasto graduated from University of Southern California Dental School with an emphasis on cosmetics and sports dentistry.  Dr. James Tasto was selected by his peers to be included in the List of Top Dentists in San Diego for 2007 – 2013.  He appeared in the May issue of San Diego Magazine.  Dr. Tasto is also a member of D.O.C.S. (Doctors Offering Charitable Services), a local organization that offers medical services such as plastic surgery, vision and dental to the less fortunate patients in San Diego.  Dr. Tasto currently resides in San Diego with his lovely wife Traci and their 3 children. He enjoys golf, beach volleyball and playing with his kids.
