Sports Themed “Guys Night Out” Draws in Crowd

Texas Hold’em, Cigar Lounge & Much Much More: FIDF 2^nd Annual Guys Night Out

What do you get when you mix a Texas Hold’em tournament, a premium liquor bar, San Diego Charger girls, and a strolling dinner?  The answer is simple: you get the perfect guy’s night out!!! On June 7, 2012, the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces (FIDF) San Diego Chapter held it’s second annual Guys Night Out event, at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines Hotel.  All of the event proceeds from the night go towards benefitting the brave men and women of the Israel Defense Forces, as well as sponsoring a battalion in Israel and raising enough funds to send one lucky individual to college.

Last year’s event was the first annual Guys Night Out and was held in memory of Mr. David Feder, the father of Co-Chair Dan Feder, who proudly served in an IDF Paratrooper Unit.  In 1993, he was tragically killed in an automobile accident at the young age of 47.  With the event being so very successful and well attended, it was decided that Guys Night Out would become an annual event.

With it’s great combination of charity and entertainment, Guys Night Out truly brings in a spectacular crowd.  This years Guys Night Out event was completely jam packed with residents from all over San Diego County, and the atmosphere was truly similar to that of Las Vegas, only much closer to home.  This year’s theme truly centered around sports and guys were able to participate in basketball and ping pong tournaments, watch the Celtics game on the big screen, and even visit the cigar lounge.  More than 88 players took part in the Texas Hold’em tournament and amazing prizes such as weekend getaways, in Napa, Cabo San Lucas, and Mammoth were being given away.  The event truly offered participants the opportunity to have a fun guys night out, enjoying all of the different activities and being able to take pride in the fact that they are helping sponsor a great organization such as FIDF.
