One of the biggest struggles of most Americans is a fight with belly fat. Abdominal fat is the most dangerous type of body fat, as it is the fat that surrounds our organs. Ultimately, there are two real reasons we have belly fat. One, our workout routine. Two, our dietary choices.
Today we are going to cover the work out routine. Our next article will be about how what you’re eating is causing the belly fat and belly bloat that is keeping you from being swimsuit ready this summer!
First, fat is caused by not burning more calories than you take in. Therefore, you need to find the best ways possible to make our bodies burn more calories. As most of us are very busy, our work out needs to be efficient and needs to burn calories quickly. When you are designing your work out routine, you need to make sure that you are working out at an intensity high enough to actually burn fat. But you also want to strengthen the abdominal wall!
You can use High Intensity Intervals to torch calories and increase your metabolism. When you truly push your body beyond its limits, that is when you increase your calorie burn – for hours after you stop working out. Short bursts of exercise increases your cardiovascular endurance, increases your metabolism, and increases your calorie burn.
For a perfect abdominal toning and cardiovascular workout – alternate one minute sprint with a one minute plank. This will help you speed up your metabolism and tone your abdominals all at the same time!! Start with a 10 minute workout – trying to work up to 30 minutes if you can, at least three times a week.

Originally from the Midwest, Amy moved to San Diego in 2001. A graduate of Valparaiso University, Amy had been a Financial Advisor since 1997. When Amy began taking Pilates with her neighbor Wendy, in 2006, she fell in love with the method and benefits of the program and knew she wanted to help others achieve their fitness goals. It was not until Amy took her first barre class that she discovered her true passion for fitness. She loved the challenge and energy of each class. And more importantly, she was excited by the results as her body became more toned than through any other workout routine she had tried in the past. Amy would be one of the best testimonials for Fit in 60 Pilates and Barre. In less than a month’s time, attending 4-5 classes a week, Amy went from a size 10/12 to a size 6. She came home one day and told her husband, Mike that “if every girl knew this, every girl would do it.” Amy is passionate about getting to know her clients and provide modifications and corrections to challenge every client, while making classes as safe as possible. Amy lives in Carlsbad with her husband, Mike, and her dog Emma. She loves what she does, and is thrilled to present the Fit in 60 workout to Carlsbad and Carmel Valley and is eager to help women look and feel great!
