Painting Demonstration with Acclaimed Chinese Artist Henry Wo Yue-kee

The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum (SDCHM) will host acclaimed Chinese brush painter and calligrapher, Henry Wo Yue-kee on Saturday, September 24, 2016 from 2:00pm-4:00pm. Acclaimed Chinese Artist Wo will demonstrate his unique painting techniques as he captures the essence of nature in front of an audience at the Museum. The audience will witness the themes of happiness, friendliness, tranquility, and harmony as Wo paints a poem in praise of nature.

Wo’s painting demonstration will be held at the Chuang Archive and Learning Center (541 B Second Ave., San Diego, Ca 92101). Admission is $5 at the door and SDCHM members and children 12 and under are free. A light reception will follow. His books, “The Poetic Spirit,” and “The Inner World of Henry Wo Yue-kee,” will be available for purchase.

About the Artist: 

Acclaimed Chinese Artist, Henry Wo Yue-kee

Henry Wo Yue-kee acclaimed Chinese Artist, also known as Hu Yuji, a master of Chinese ink painting, has produced exquisite works of flowers, plants, birds, and animals. Wo is internationally recognized for his paintings of carp, goldfish, monkeys, flowers, lily pads and nature scenes in watercolor. He has a special sense about the underwater world where fish and fauna flourish. He studied with Professor Chao Shao-an of the Lingnan School of Painting. Henry Wo was one of the founding members of the “Today’s Art Association,” established in 1961 and he has pursued a lifelong mission of teaching. His prolific career has included numerous exhibitions around the world.
