Our catchphrase is, “It’s all about the ride,” and that’s really what we’re all about. It doesn’t matter whether we see kids on beginner bikes or whether we see guys, 80, 85 years old, out riding their bikes every day – we really just want to see people on bikes. My name’s Brent Garrigus, cofounder, Ride Cyclery in Encinitas. Our store’s been serving the local community for over 20 years.
So, my wife and I founded this business three and a half years ago. We purchased an existing business that had been serving the community for over 20 years. Knowing the local cycling community, we felt that there was a need for a new store, with a new attitude, and a new way of doing things. We have a full-service shop. We service everything. We can service old bikes that people have had around for awhile, all the way up to the most current stuff, with electronic shifting.
At Ride Cyclery, we’re involved with the community in many ways. First, we have various classes that we offer for free. We have Yoga classes on Monday evenings. We have spin classes or trainer classes, on the patio, with World Champion Michellie Jones, on Wednesdays. So we supply these free classes to the community to come in, and enjoy, and experience some different aspects of what bicycling has to offer.
We also have group rides. We’ve got three different rides that leave on Saturday. There’s, basically, different categories. Let’s see. We’ve got different ride groups that leave different routes, and different speeds. And then, on Sunday, we have what’s called a True Base Sunday’s Ride, which is, basically, a no-drop ride.
I’ve been riding bikes since I can remember. And so, I’ve just always had a passion for the bicycle. And so, for me, it’s a wonderful thing to be able to go to work and toy and tinker with bikes. And to see the lifestyle changes that people go through once they actually see the joy or the benefits of riding a bike. I’ve seen some pretty life changing experiences or stories.
