I just woke up and it is almost officially the first day of summer. No one has to be out the door for school or me scrambling to make lunches. It is just me and the kids this summer. Although, when one lives in the Carmel Valley San Diego community, one must learn that there is plenty to do outside the valley.
My first destination of order on this first week that boys are out of school is to go to the Point Loma Tide Pools. The tide pools are located at Cabrillo National Monument 1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive
San Diego, CA 92106.
While visiting the tide pools, there are two other attractions located at this site. The first attraction is The Cabrillo National Monument. Cabrillo National Monument is a 160-acre unit of the National Park System, located at the southern tip of Point Loma in San Diego, California. If you love a panoramic view this location should not be missed.
The second attraction near the Carmel Valley San Diego community, is the Old Point Loma Light House. All it takes to see it is to take a small hike up a hill. The light house is located on the ocean side are Sunset Cliffs with picturesque views and residential neighborhoods.
Here is what is wonderful about this one day field trip. It requires no money only an interest in wild sea life. You can pack lunches and picnic near the information center. There are a lot of table and chairs to relax and have fun picnicking. My boys Jack who is 7 and Jason who is six thought that this trip was very cool. You can spend up to 3 or 4 hours there. It was a nice day spent with the kids and also a learning experience. The best part of this trip was all of it. If you like to explore, this is a fun destination to do that.
