Each year, the lovely ladies of the Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary of Carmel Valley host an amazing event to bring attention to and fundraise for the Rady Children’s Hospital Discovery Center for Pediatric Research, benefitting areas such as neurology, oncology, and autism. This year’s event, SOUNDS OF HOPE for CHILDREN, took place on a beautiful San Diego Saturday night at the UCSD Loft Night Club. Please continue reading below…
The benefit kicked off with dinner and drinks, followed by a live auction, auctioning off amazing prizes, such as a Ladies Pamper Party or Tickets for 4 to a see Aerosmith play live at the Hollywood Bowl. The energy was high and guests enjoyed bidding against each other for these amazing prizes. To top the night off, Joshua Tree, a nationally recognized U2 Tribute Band, performed and got everyone out on the dance floor, dancing the night away to some famous U2 hits, such as “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” and “Beautiful Day.”
To say the event was a success would be putting it lightly. This fun and cutting edge event, planned meticulously by the event Chairs, Melanie Casey and Michele Devine, as well as the rest of the Carmel Valley Auxiliary Unit, brought in over $131,000. This incredible amount of money will help make a difference in thousands of children’s lives, not only in San Diego County, but all around the world. With the money being raised going specifically to research, the benefits will be seen and felt for many generations to come.
For more information about how to give back or if you would like to make any additional donations, please contact cvchairs@gmail.com. The Carmel Valley Unit has been doing great things in our community since 1994, when it was formed by a group of women living in the North County Area. To this day, they have continued to donate not only their time, but also their resources to help support Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, CA.
