With summer just around the corner and school being out for a couple of months, you may find yourself searching for some kind of extracurricular activities to keep your kids active and entertained. Lucky for you, Ocean Air Recreation Center and Carmel Valley Community Park and Recreation Center is offering a variety of different classes, camps and activities for children of all ages to participate in all summer long. Instead of complaining of being bored at home all summer, kids will instead thank you for getting them out of the house to have fun!!! Please continue reading below…
Whether your child is interested in honing their sports skills, participating in science experiments, dancing or even learning how to cook healthy foods, there truly is a class offered to meet everyone’s interests. What’s great about the programs and classes being offered this summer is that they are all being taught by caring individuals who aren’t just interested in babysitting children, but who really want to see participant’s grow and develop new skills. One class, in particular, that has caught my eye is the Kid’s Creative Cooking Camp, held at the Ocean Air Recreation Center. This camp is led by a Registered Dietitian and offers children the opportunity to explore new foods through creating their own healthy lunches, outdoor time, crafts, and fun foods games. The camp really makes learning about healthy food fun, but also helps transform a child’s way of thinking about healthy food and sparks a healthy food revolution!!!
There are even camps catered toward ages 3-5, including “Bugs and Butterflies” and “Pink, Pink, Pink” held at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center. Children attending the Pink, Pink, Pink class will paint, sculpt and collage to create artwork that is inspired by the “Pinkalicious” book series. Not only do these camps help develop art skills, but they also help children learn to socialize and play well with others. It’s a win-win situation!!!
