Teaching the Sport and Increasing Confidence

The World Tae Kwon Do Academy, located in the Torrey Hills Shopping Center, is a favorite among Carmel Valley residents.  Children of all ages love being able to practice the ancient form of martial arts through practicing high kicks, learning some of the customs, and all while having fun.  Master TJ Kim, the owner and Master of the studio, encourages children to reach their fullest potential not only in the world of Tae Kwon Do, but also in everyday life.  His classes teach the children core values, such as respect and commitment.  While he demands respect from his students, he does so in a healthy, positive manner that makes the discipline fun.  Through participating in Master Kim’s classes, students can build their confidence, learn some Korean and learn to focus, which can all be applied both in and out of the classroom and studio.

Master Kim has been practicing Tae Kwon Do for many years.  Master Kim was born, raised and trained in Korea and even participated in the 1988 Seoul Olympic games.  He then came to the United States in 1990 and has been living in San Diego for over 20 years, sharing his wisdom and success with thousands of students.

Master Kim suggests students start off taking a four-week trial course to try out his classes.  Students are given a complementary uniform and are taken through some of the basics of Tae Kwon Do.  This is a great way for students to determine whether or not they want to continue learning the art of Tae Kwon Do.  It also allows for Master Kim to determine if the student can continue on with group classes and where to place them.
