A Night of Fun, Food, and Fashion: A Taste of Torrey

The Torrey Hills Center and The Carmel Valley Life hosted an awesome evening of free food, raffle giveaways, and a live fashion show last week for all Carmel Valley residents to enjoy.  At the Taste of Torrey event, residents mixed and mingled, sampled some of the center’s restaurants delicious menu items, and relaxed under the beautiful San Diego sky.  Trays of chocolate covered apples and bananas were passed around by Edible Arrangements and the Juice Bros brought some delicious, healthy green juice to fuel everyone’s energy, getting them pumped up for the fashion show being put on by the national award-winning Gila Rut Aveda Salon later that night.

In addition to the delicious chocolate covered fruits, Taste of Italy, BBQ Republic, and Daphne’s Greek Café kindly shared some of their tasty treats for all of the attendees to sample.  The fried pickles from BBQ Republic and the Pasta a la Vodka from Taste of Italy were definitely crowd-pleasers and I couldn’t help but sneak in some fried pickles every now and then.

After the residents dined, they enjoyed an awesome fashion show, showcasing the new Fall/Resort collection of cuts, color and makeup from Gila Rut salon.  The models rocked the runway to the musical sounds of a live DJ and really brought a lot of excitement to the event.  The hairstyles were dramatic and trend-setting, while others featured innovative braids that help keep every woman looking fresh and young!

To say the event was a success would be an understatement.  It was great to see so many residents come together on a weekday to celebrate the community and the Torrey Hills Center.  Not only did residents have the chance to try all kinds of yummy food and fun games, but all proceeds of the event went directly to Parent Connection, San Diego’s largest parent support group.  Who says you can’t have fun giving back?
