If we look back into the history of this country, and the planet as a whole, the real movers and shakers of the world we those individuals who had mastered the art of confident speaking and communication.  Well, in the beautiful community of Carmel Valley San Diego, Kathleen Behrens is on a mission to create an army of similarly equipped young individuals to inspire the rest of the world.  You see, Kathleen undoubtedly belives that it is through speaking and communicating, a chlid can build and grow his or her confidence.  We all have heard over and over again, about the importance of confidence during the developing stages of any young individual.  And that once confidence is achieved, it will carry over into their futher and other parts of their lives.   Kathleen is someone that is actually doing something about the lack of resources that are available for kids to develope this much needed skill.  What and how is she doing this?

After serving 11 years in the public and private eduational system, Kathleen Behrens decided she would create an organization that would give children and teens the opportunity to develop the skill of confident speaking. Her many years of experience in the educational system left her feeling as though kids, in general, we’ren’t given the guildance or resources to develop such a vital skill.  So, Kathleen created “Teen Speaking Skills” as a way to give back to the community and make sure kids of all ages could learn the art of speaking and communication.  Kathleen is currently the Area 24 Governor and is also the Speechmastors Program Instructor for the Youth Leadership Programs.    She is now in her second year and is quickly growing.  In order to make sure there is constant interaction and learning, Kathleen keeps her class sizes to a maximum of 12 students, and regularly holds courses through out the year.

David A. Moya is a Carmel Valley San Diego community contributor and influencer for positive change.  As founder of The Carmel Valley Life he focuses on education, transparency and helping others find a voice for their passion.  During his earlier years, he fed his entrepreneurial spirit and founded a company focused on the development of young kids who are committed to peak performance.  David went on to pay for his BA in Finance through his real estate business and after graduating flew more than 30 flights to over 10 countries in order to master the art of communication and business.  Today, he enjoys creating value for his community by leading a movement of responsibility – one of sharing knowledge, stories and a helping hand.
